ʿAbd Allāh ibn Salām, from his father, from his grandfather, who said: “Jesus son of Mary will be buried beside the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, with Abū Bakr and ʿUmar; thus his grave will be the fourth.” (1)
Abū Dāwūd al-Ṭayālisī likewise narrated—through ʿAlī ibn Masʿadah, from Riyāḥ ibn ʿUbaydah—that Yūsuf ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Salām told me, on the authority of his father: “After the Antichrist, people will carry on, frequenting the markets and planting date-palms.”
Mention of the appearance of Gog and Magog: this will occur in the days of Jesus son of Mary, after his killing of the Antichrist, and Allah will annihilate them all in a single night by the blessing of his supplication against them.
Allah the Exalted says:
“Until, when Gog and Magog are let loose and they rush down from every rise, 96 and the true promise draws near, then behold, the eyes of those who disbelieved will stare in horror: ‘Woe to us! We were indeed heedless of this; rather, we were wrongdoers.’ 97” (al-Anbiyāʾ 21:96–97).
And He says in the story of Dhu’l-Qarnayn:
“Then he followed a course 92 until, when he reached the place between the two mountain barriers, he found before them a people who could scarcely comprehend speech. 93 They said, ‘O Dhu’l-Qarnayn, Gog and Magog are spreading corruption in the land. Shall we pay you a tribute so that you set up a barrier between us and them?’ 94 He said, ‘That in which my Lord has established me is better; so help me with strength, and I shall set a rampart between you and them. 95 Bring me blocks of iron.’ Then, when he had filled up [the gap] between the two cliffs, he said, ‘Blow!’ When he had made it a fire he said, ‘Bring me molten copper that I may pour over it.’ 96 Thus they were unable to scale it, nor could they pierce it. 97 He said, ‘This is a mercy from my Lord. But when my Lord’s promise comes, He will level it, and my Lord’s promise is true.’ 98 On that day We shall leave them surging over one another, and the Trumpet will be blown and We shall gather them all together, 99 and on that day We shall present Hell to the disbelievers, plain to see. 100” (al-Kahf 18:92–100).
We have explained in the Tafsīr, within the story of Dhu’l-Qarnayn, how he built the barrier of iron and copper between two mountains so that it became a single embankment, and how his words—“This is a mercy from my Lord”—mean that it serves as a partition between those who corrupt the earth and the rest of mankind. The verse, “But when my Lord’s promise comes He will level it, and my Lord’s promise is true,” refers to the time He has decreed for its collapse; He will reduce it to ground level, and His promise is certain. “And We shall leave them on that day surging over one another”—when the wall collapses they will pour forth upon mankind, overrunning them, hastening from every elevation. Shortly thereafter the Trumpet will be blown in terror, as He the Exalted says: “Until, when Gog and Magog are let loose and they rush down from every rise… 96 and the true promise draws near…” (al-Anbiyāʾ 21:96).
We have already cited, in the narrations concerning the emergence of the Antichrist and the descent of the Messiah, a considerable amount regarding them, in the report of al-Nawwās ibn Samʿān and others.
It is likewise established in the two Ṣaḥīḥs, in the narration of Zaynab bint Jahsh, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ slept in her house and then awoke
