—peace be upon him—will accompany him, warning the people against him. He will declare, “This is the lying Messiah; beware of him! May Allah curse him.” Allah will grant him such swiftness and lightness that the Dajjal will be unable to overtake him.
Whenever the Dajjal proclaims, “I am the Lord of all worlds,” the people will say, “You have lied,” and al-Yasaʿ will add, “The people have spoken the truth.”
The Dajjal will then pass by Mecca and behold a mighty figure. He will ask, “Who are you?” The figure will reply, “I am Michael; Allah has sent me to bar you from His Sacred Precinct.”
He will proceed to Madinah and meet another great figure. He will ask, “Who are you?” The figure will answer, “I am Gabriel; Allah has sent me to bar you from the sanctuary of His Messenger.”
When the Dajjal approaches Mecca and sees Michael he will turn and flee, shouting, and the hypocrites of Mecca—and likewise those of Madinah—will come out to join him.
The warner will go to the Muslims who conquered Constantinople and to those gathered in Jerusalem and announce: “The Dajjal has emerged and is now behind you among your families.” He said:
The Dajjal will seize that man and say, “Here is the one who claims I have no power over him—kill him!” He will be sawn apart. Then the Dajjal will say, “I shall bring him back to life. Rise, by Allah’s permission!” Yet Allah will not allow him to revive any soul other than that one.
He will say to the man, “Did I not cause you to die and then revive you?” The man will reply, “My certainty about you has only increased. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ informed me that you would kill me and that I would then be raised by Allah’s leave, not by yours.”
Sheets of copper will be fastened on his skin so that their weapons cannot harm him. The Dajjal will order, “Throw him into my fire,” but Allah will turn that mountain of fire into gardens for the warner, and people will waver in doubt.
The Dajjal will hurry toward Jerusalem. When he ascends the pass of Afīq his tyranny will descend upon the Muslims. They will string their bows to fight him, yet the strongest among them will be the one who can bend his bow while kneeling or sitting, so great will be their hunger and weakness.
They will hear a call: “Relief has come to you!” but they will say, “Those are the words of someone who has eaten his fill.”
The earth will shine with the light of its Lord, and Jesus son of Mary will descend. He will say, “O community of Muslims, praise your Lord and glorify Him,” and they will do so. They will try to flee, but Allah will restrict the earth for them. When, within half an hour, they reach the gate of Ludd, they will meet Jesus son of Mary (may Allah have mercy on them).
When the Dajjal sees Jesus he will say, “Establish the prayer.” The Dajjal will add, “O Prophet of Allah, the prayer has already been established.” Jesus will reply, “O enemy of Allah, you claimed to be the Lord of the worlds—so to whom are you praying?” Then he will strike him with the mace in his hand and kill him.
No supporter of the Dajjal will remain hidden behind anything without it calling out, “O believer, here is one of the Dajjal’s followers—kill him!” … until the narrator said:
“Enjoy life for forty years: no one will die and no one will fall ill. A man will say to his sheep and beasts, ‘Go and graze,’ and the livestock will pass between two cultivated fields without eating a single stalk. Snakes and scorpions will harm no one, and predators will sit at the doors of houses without molesting anyone. A man will sow a single measure of wheat without ploughing, and it will yield seven hundred measures.
“They will remain in that state until the barrier of Gog and Magog is broken. Gog and Magog will pour forth and ruin whatever is on the earth. People will cry out for help, but they will not be answered.
“The people of Mount Sinai—those to whom Allah granted the conquest of Constantinople—will make supplication, and Allah will send against them a beast from the earth with legs. It will enter their ears, and by morning they will all be dead. The land will reek with their corpses, troubling the people.”
