Another route from Abū Hurayrah
Hanbal ibn Isḥāq said:
“Surayj ibn al-Nuʿmān narrated to us; Fulayḥ narrated to us; from al-Ḥārith ibn Fuḍayl; from Ziyād ibn Saʿd; from Abū Hurayrah, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ addressed the people and mentioned the Dajjal. He said:
‘There has never been a prophet before me who did not warn his nation about him. I shall describe him to you in a way no prophet before me has done: he is one-eyed, and between his eyes is written the word kāfir (disbeliever). Every believer—whether he can write or not—will be able to read it.’ ”
Its chain is sound and good; the Two Shaykhs did not record it. (1)
Another route from Abū Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him)
Aḥmad said:
“Surayj narrated to us; Fulayḥ narrated to us; from ʿAmr ibn al-ʿAlāʾ al-Thaqafī; from his father; from Abū Hurayrah, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
‘Madinah and Makkah are surrounded by angels. At every pass leading into them stands an angel. Neither the Dajjal nor the plague will enter them.’ ”
This is extremely unusual. The mention of Makkah in this report is not preserved, nor is the mention of the plague. (2) Allah knows best. As for al-ʿAlāʾ al-Thaqafī, if he is the son of Zaydal, he is a liar.
Another route from him
Al-Bukhārī and Muslim said:
“Zuhayr narrated to us; Jarīr narrated to us; from ʿUmārah; from Abū Zurʿah; from Abū Hurayrah, who said:
‘I have continued to love Banū Tamīm for three reasons: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, “They are the staunchest of my community against the Dajjal.” Their charity contributions then arrived, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “These are the charities of my people.” And when a female captive from among them was with ʿĀʾishah, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Set her free, for she is a descendant of Ismāʿīl.” ’ ” (3)
The ḥadīth of ʿImrān ibn Ḥuṣayn (may Allah be pleased with him)
Abū Dāwūd said:
“Mūsā ibn Ismāʿīl narrated to us; Jarīr narrated to us; Ḥumayd ibn Hilāl narrated to us; from Abū al-Dahmāʾ, who said:
‘I heard ʿImrān ibn Ḥuṣayn narrate that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Whoever hears of the Dajjal, let him keep away from him, for by Allah, a man will come to him thinking himself a believer and will end up following him because of the doubts he will unleash, or…” ’ ”
