Al-Bidayah wa an-NihayahIbn Kathir

Madina, and he will say to his companions, “Do you see that white palace? That is the Mosque of Ahmad.” He will then come to Madina and find at every pass leading into it an angel standing with a drawn sword. He will proceed to the salty plain of al-Jurf and pitch his pavilion there. The city will shake with three tremors, and no hypocrite—male or female—nor any flagrant sinner—male or female—will remain inside without going out to him. That is the Day of Deliverance.”
It was narrated only by Aḥmad.

Aḥmad also reported it through Ghundar, from Shuʿbah, from Abū Bishr, from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Shaqīq, from Rajāʾ ibn Rajāʾ, from Miḥjan ibn al-Adraʿ, who said:
“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ took me by the hand, ascended Mount Uḥud, and gazed upon the city. He said: ‘Woe to her mother; a town whose people will forsake it when it is at its very best,’ or, ‘when it is better than it has ever been. The Dajjāl will come to it and will find at every gate an angel with a drawn wing, so he will not enter it.’

“He then came down, still holding my hand, and we entered the mosque. There was a man praying. He said to me, ‘Who is this?’ I spoke well of him, whereupon he said, ‘Be quiet; do not let him hear you and ruin him.’ He then went to the room of one of his wives, released my hand, and said, ‘The best part of your religion is the easiest; the best part of your religion is the easiest.’ (1)

[Another ḥadith]
Maʿmar related in his Jāmiʿ from al-Zuhrī: ʿAmr ibn Abī Sufyān al-Thaqafī told me, informed by a man from the Anṣār, from some of the Companions of Muhammad ﷺ, who said:
“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ mentioned the Dajjāl and said: ‘He will come to the salt-flats of Madina, and it is forbidden for him to enter it. The city will shake its people with one or two quakes—this is the earthquake—and every hypocrite, male or female, will go out to him. Then the Dajjāl will turn toward Syria until he reaches one of its mountains, while the rest of the Muslims that day will be taking refuge on the summit of a mountain. He will besiege them, camping at its base, until their hardship drags on.’

“A man will say, ‘How long will you remain like this, while the enemy of Allah is camped at the foot of your mountain? You are only between two noble outcomes: either he will martyr you, or Allah will grant you victory over him.’ They will then pledge to die—a pledge that Allah knows to be truthful in their hearts. A darkness will overtake them so that a man cannot see his own hand. Then the Son of Mary will descend, lifting the veil from their sight, and among them will be a man clad in armor. They will say, ‘Who are you?’ He will reply, ‘I am the servant of Allah, His Messenger, His Spirit, and His Word—ʿĪsā. Choose one of three: that Allah send upon the Dajjāl and his forces a chastisement from heaven, or that He cause the earth to swallow them, or that He empower you against them while restraining their weapons from harming you.’

“They will say, ‘This, O Messenger of Allah, will most heal our hearts.’ On that day a huge Jew—tall, gluttonous, ever-drinking—will be seen, unable to steady his sword because of trembling. They will then descend upon them, Allah will grant them power over their enemies, and the Dajjāl will melt away…"

(1) It is reported by Ahmad in his Musnad (4/338). The hadith is weak, except for the phrase inna khayra dinikum ayasarah (The best of your religion is the easiest), which is authentic.
