al-Shaʿbī, from Jābir, who said:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “I am indeed the seal of a thousand prophets or more; there is not a single prophet among them who did not warn his people about the Dajjāl. What has been made evident to me concerning him was not shown to any of them: he is one-eyed, whereas your Lord is not one-eyed.” Al-Bazzār alone transmitted this report; its chain is sound and its wording is very unusual. (1)
ʿAbd Allah ibn Aḥmad also related in al-Sunnah, through Mujālid, from al-Shaʿbī, from Jābir, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ mentioned the Dajjāl and said, “He is one-eyed, and your Lord is not one-eyed.” Ibn Abī Shaybah recorded it as well, through ʿAlī ibn Mus-hir, from Mujālid, with a wording longer than this. (2)
[Another chain from Jābir (may Allah be pleased with him)]
Imām Aḥmad said: Rūḥ narrated to us; Ibn Jurayj narrated to us; Abuʾl-Zubayr informed me that he heard Jābir ibn ʿAbd Allah say: The Prophet ﷺ said, “The Dajjāl is one-eyed, and he is the most blatant of liars.” (3)
Muslim narrated, on the authority of Ibn Jurayj, from Abuʾl-Zubayr, from Jābir, from the Prophet ﷺ: “A group of my community will continue to stand manifest upon the truth until Jesus son of Mary descends.” (4) Another route for this ḥadīth has already been cited through Abuʾl-Zubayr from him, and through Abū Salamah from him, in connection with the Dajjāl.
[Hadith from Ibn ʿAbbās (may Allah be pleased with him)]
Imām Aḥmad said: Muḥammad ibn Jaʿfar narrated to us; Shuʿbah narrated to us, from Simāk ibn Ḥarb, from ʿIkrimah, from Ibn ʿAbbās (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Prophet ﷺ said concerning the Dajjāl:
“He is a fair-skinned, one-eyed man (5), bright-complexioned; his head is like the head of a serpent (6). Of all people he most resembles ʿAbd al-ʿUzzā ibn Qaṭan. So let those who are destined to perish, perish; for your Lord is not one-eyed.”
Shuʿbah added: I reported this to Qatādah, and he narrated something similar to me. Aḥmad alone recorded it through this route. (7)
Aḥmad, al-Ḥārith ibn Abī Usāmah, and Abū Yaʿlā also related—through the route of Hilāl, from ʿIkrimah, from Ibn ʿAbbās, in the ḥadīth of the Night Journey—that he said: The Prophet saw the Dajjāl with his waking eyes, not in a dream, as well as Jesus, [Moses], and Abraham. When the Prophet ﷺ was asked about the Dajjāl, he said, “I saw him wearing Yemeni garb (8), fair-skinned and bright-complexioned…”
