and the city was festooned with decorations. He did so, and the Franks who had been held in the Citadel of al-Manṣūra were released—a measure the people did not take lightly.

This is all that has been found of the chronicle. Praise is due to Allah alone, and blessings upon our Prophet Muḥammad, his family, and his Companions.

With Allah’s help, volume sixteen of Ibn Kathīr’s History is now complete.

The editing of this volume was finished on Friday, 6 Rajab al-Muʿaẓẓam 1412 AH, corresponding to 10 January 1992 CE.

Our final supplication is: praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds.

The work was subsequently reviewed and its hadiths authenticated by ʿAbd al-Qādir al-Arnaʿūṭ on 1 Rabiʿ al-Awwal 1420 AH (15 June 1999 CE). I have examined it again, and this review was concluded on 8 Rabiʿ al-Awwal 1425 AH, corresponding to 27 April 2004 CE.
