We shall yet conquer Constantinople and all that lies beneath its banner, and we shall make you a banquet for the keen-eyed vultures.
We shall rule the furthest reaches of your territories and compel you to the abasement of paying the jizya and other indemnities.
By force we shall open the lands of China and India, with an army that will break the power of the Turks and the Khazars.
These are promises of the All-Merciful in whose truth we firmly believe; they are nothing like the fantasies of diseased minds.
A day will come when you behold Islam’s dominion encompassing every land, upheld by armies whose swords flash like lightning.
O wretched one, do you really set beside it a triune creed—remote from reason, blatant in its sins?
You devote yourself to a created being who himself worships his Lord; woe to you—what you seek to hide can never remain concealed.
Your Gospels are man-made, woven out of mutual lies; the words of their authors teem with monstrous fabrications.
Yet you still stand in reverence before a piece of wood— a cross!—O minds as errant as wandering cattle.
In your delusion you profess that your god was crucified by the hands of the vilest, most contemptible Jews.
Come instead to the religion of Islam, to the pure monotheism of our Lord; no other faith can match its strength.
Kings submitted willingly to this faith, convinced by manifest proofs displayed at every great gathering.
So it was that the ruler of mighty Ṣanʿāʾ embraced it, as did the people of ʿUmān, kinsmen of al-Jahādhim;
all the other sovereigns of Yemen accepted Islam, and the clan of al-Lahāzim in the land of Bahrain followed them.
They answered Allah’s call without fear of loss or hope of gain for empty hands.
Cheerfully they loosened the knots of their crowns, moved by certain truth borne out by clear evidence.
Their Lord favored His Prophet with impregnable victory, while those who opposed him were made to endure the trampling hooves.
He was a poor, solitary man, unaided by any clan; none shielded him from a slanderer’s abuse.
He had no ready wealth to secure allies, no treasure to dispel a feared aggressor or appease a would-be friend;
nor did he promise the Helpers any private riches—protected instead by the Mightiest Guardian.
Never did a captor’s power degrade him; no striking hand was ever allowed to reach his body.
Yet every sinner among you hurls lies, slanders and misguidance against the person of Jesus,⦗1⦘
though you claim he is your Lord—what delusion, lost in a fog of folly!
Allah forbids that a son or consort be ascribed to Him; those who preach unbelief will soon taste bitter regret.
Rather, Jesus was a servant, an honored prophet— a created human being, contrary to the fabrications of deceivers.
Shall the face of the Lord be struck? Perish your stupidity! In injustice you have outdone every tyrant.
