Al-Ḥākim Abū ʿAbd Allāh al-Naysābūrī said:
He was the shaykh of the Prophet’s Household ﷺ in his day in Khurāsān and the foremost of the ʿAlids of his age. He was among the people most devoted to prayer, charity, and love for the Companions. I kept his company for a time, and never once did I hear him mention ʿUthmān without saying, “the martyr,” and weeping; nor did I ever hear him name ʿĀʾishah without saying, “the truthful one, daughter of the Truthful, beloved of the Beloved of Allah,” and weeping. and her neighbour Umm al-Rabab at Maʾsal
