– A booklet compiling the ḥadiths that speak of the virtue of the first ten days of Dhū al-Ḥijjah. Ibn Kathīr cites it in Tafsīr al-Qurʾān al-ʿAẓīm (3/272) while explaining the verse, “so that they may witness benefits for themselves and mention the name of Allah during known days” (al-Ḥajj 22:28).
– A booklet rebutting the treatise entitled “Lifting the Jizyah from the Jews of Khaybar.” He refers to it in al-Bidāya wa-l-Nihāya (4/450). The authors of that treatise had claimed that the Prophet ﷺ exempted them from paying the jizyah, whereupon the scholars exposed their falsehood, and Ibn Kathīr contributed to refuting it.
– A booklet on the purification of mosques. Al-Ḥāfiẓ mentions it in Tafsīr al-Qurʾān al-ʿAẓīm (1/226) under the verse, “Purify My House for those who circumambulate” (al-Baqarah 2:125), and again in the same work (3/364) when commenting on, “in houses that Allah has allowed to be raised” (al-Nūr 24:36).
– A standalone booklet on the conquest of Constantinople. Ibn Kathīr alludes to it in Tafsīr al-Qurʾān al-ʿAẓīm (1/451) while interpreting the verse, “When Allah said, ‘O Jesus, I will take you and raise you to Myself…’” (Āl ʿImrān 3:55).
– A booklet on the Prophet’s ﷺ marriage to Umm Salamah. He cites it in al-Fuṣūl fī Sīrat al-Rasūl ﷺ (p. 245), clarifying that the “ʿUmar” who was told, “Go and marry the Prophet ﷺ,” was ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb (may Allah be pleased with him), not Umm Salamah’s son ʿUmar ibn Abī Salamah, for the latter was too young to serve as guardian in the marriage contract.
– A standalone booklet on the ḥadith in which the Messenger of Allah ﷺ declined to marry ʿIzzah bint Abī Sufyān. Al-Ḥāfiẓ Ibn Kathīr (may Allah have mercy on him) mentions it in al-Fuṣūl fī Sīrat al-Rasūl ﷺ (p. 249) and in al-Bidāya wa-l-Nihāya (8/174). The report appears in Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim (no. 2501); therein Abū Sufyān is said—mistakenly—to have offered the Prophet ﷺ the hand of Umm Ḥabībah, whereas it was in fact ʿIzzah. The Prophet ﷺ excused himself, for marrying two sisters simultaneously is forbidden.
