During this year Imām Isḥāq ibn Rāhawayh (1)—one of the foremost authorities among the scholars of Islam and a leading independent jurist—passed away.
Others who died this year were Bishr ibn al-Walīd, the Ḥanafī jurist (2); Ṭālūt ibn ʿAbbād (3); Muḥammad ibn Bakkār ibn al-Rayyān (4); Muḥammad ibn al-Burjulānī (5); and Muḥammad ibn Abī al-Sarī al-ʿAsqalānī (6).
