Khuthaym (1), from Saʿid ibn Rashid, from Yaʿla ibn Murrah, who said that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, declared:
“Husayn is of me and I am of Husayn. May Allah love whoever loves Husayn. Husayn is a sibṭ (one of the grandsons among the grandsons).”
Al-Tirmidhi then remarked, “This hadith is ḥasan (2).”
Imam Ahmad likewise related it (3) through ʿAffan, from Wahib (4), from ʿAbd Allah ibn ʿUthman ibn Khuthaym with this same chain.
Al-Tabarani transmitted it through Bakr ibn Sahl, from ʿAbd Allah ibn Ṣalih, from Muʿawiyah ibn Ṣalih, from Rashid ibn Saʿd (5), from Yaʿla ibn Murrah: the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Al-Hasan and al-Husayn are sibṭān (two grandsons) among the asbāṭ.” (6)
Imam Ahmad further said: Abu Nuʿaym narrated to us; Sufyan narrated to us, from Yazid ibn Abi Ziyad [through Ibn Abi Nuʿm] (7), from Abu Saʿid al-Khudri, who reported that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
“Al-Hasan and al-Husayn are the lords of the youth of Paradise.”
Al-Tirmidhi also recorded it (8) through Sufyan al-Thawri and others, from Yazid ibn Abi Ziyad, and he graded it ḥasan ṣaḥīḥ.
Abu al-Qasim al-Baghawi narrated it as well through Dawud ibn Rushayd (9), from Marwan al-Fazari, from al-Hakam ibn ʿAbd al-Rahman ibn Abi Nuʿm, from his father, from Abu Saʿid, who said that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, stated:
“Al-Hasan and al-Husayn are the lords of the youth of Paradise, apart from the two maternal cousins—Yahya and ʿIsa (peace be upon them).”
Al-Nasaʾi also collected it (10) through the narration of Marwan ibn Muʿawiyah al-Fazari with this wording.
It was likewise transmitted by Suwayd ibn Saʿid, from Muhammad ibn Khazim, from al-Aʿmash, from ʿAtiyyah, from Abu Saʿid.
Imam Ahmad added: Wakiʿ narrated to us, from Rabiʿ ibn Saʿd, from Ibn (11) Sabit, who said: “Al-Husayn ibn ʿAli entered …”
