Likewise is the report that claims no one will arrive on the Day of Resurrection mounted except four: the Messenger of Allah on al-Burāq, Ṣāliḥ on his she-camel, Ḥamzah on al-ʿAdbāʾ, and ʿAlī on one of the she-camels of Paradise, raising his voice with the proclamation of Allah’s oneness.
So too with the popular oaths that circulate on people’s tongues, when someone says, “Take it, by ʿAlī!” or “Give it, by ʿAlī!” (1) and the like. All of this is baseless. It springs from the impulses and assertions of the Rāfiḍī sect and is sound on no grounds whatsoever (2). It is a fabrication of the Rāfiḍah, and there is fear that whoever becomes accustomed to it may be stripped of faith at the moment of death, for whoever swears by other than Allah has committed shirk.

Imam Aḥmad (3) said: “Yahyā narrated to me; Shuʿbah narrated to us; ʿAmr ibn Murrah narrated to us, from ʿAbd Allah ibn Salamah, from ʿAlī, who said: ‘The Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by me while I was in pain and saying, “O Allah, if my appointed term has come, then relieve me; if it is still distant, lift this affliction from me; and if it is a test, grant me patience.” He asked, “What did you say?” I repeated it to him. He tapped me with his foot and asked, “What did you say?” I repeated it again. He then prayed, “O Allah, grant him recovery, or heal him.” After that I never suffered that pain again.’”

Muḥammad ibn Muslim ibn Wārah (4) said: “ʿUbayd Allah ibn Mūsā narrated to us; Abū ʿUmar al-Azdī narrated to us, from Abū Rāshid al-Ḥarrānī, from Abū al-Ḥamrāʾ, who said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ declared: ‘Whoever wishes to look at Adam in his knowledge, at Noah in his understanding, at Abraham in his forbearance (5), at John son of Zechariah in his asceticism, and at Moses in his strength (6), let him look at ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib.’” This hadith is very objectionable and its chain is not sound.
[Another hadith concerning the return of the sun] (7): We have already cited it in Dalāʾil al-Nubuwwah with its chains and wording, so there is no need to repeat it here.

Abū ʿĪsā al-Tirmidhī (8) said: “ʿAlī ibn al-Mundhir al-Kūfī narrated to us; Muḥammad ibn Faḍīl narrated to us, from al-Ajlaḥ …”
