Qays ibn Qahd (1) ibn Qays ibn Thaʿlabah al-Anṣārī al-Najjārī has a hadith concerning the two rakʿahs before fajr. Ibn Mākūlā claimed that he was present at Badr. Muṣʿab al-Zubayrī said: “He is the grandfather of Yaḥyā ibn Saʿīd al-Anṣārī,” while most scholars maintain that he is the grandfather of Abū Maryam ʿAbd al-Ghaffār ibn al-Qāsim al-Kūfī; Allah knows best.
Labīd ibn Rabīʿah (2), Abū ʿAqīl al-ʿĀmirī, is the celebrated poet. It is authentically reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said (3): “The truest word ever uttered by a poet is the verse of Labīd.”

“Behold, everything apart from Allah is vanity …”
The line continues: “and every delight is inevitably doomed to fade.”
ʿUthmān ibn Maẓʿūn added: “except the bliss of Paradise.” It is said that Labīd died in the year 41 AH; Allah knows best.
Al-Musayyab ibn Ḥazn (4) ibn Abī Wahb al-Makhzūmī witnessed the Pledge of al-Riḍwān. He was the father of Saʿīd ibn al-Musayyab, the foremost of the Successors.
Muʿādh ibn ʿAmr ibn al-Jamūḥ (5) al-Anṣārī fought at Badr. On that day he struck Abū Jahl with his sword and severed his leg. ʿIkrimah ibn Abī Jahl then charged at Muʿādh and cut off his hand at the shoulder, yet he fought the rest of the day while the hand hung behind him, dragging on the ground. Muʿādh said: “When the fighting ended, I put my foot on it, leaned upon it, and pulled until I cast it away.” May Allah be pleased with him. He lived on until this year, 35 AH.
Muḥammad ibn Jaʿfar (6) ibn Abī Ṭālib, of the Qurayshite Hāshimite clan, was born while his father was in Abyssinia. He migrated to Medina in the year of Khaybar and was martyred at the Battle of Muʾtah. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to their house and said to their mother, Asmāʾ bint ʿUmais: “Bring me my nephews.” They were brought to him like little chicks; he kissed them, smelled them, and wept. Their mother wept as well, whereupon he said: “Are you afraid they will be destitute while I am their guardian in this world and the Hereafter?” He then called for the barber and had their heads shaved (7).
