Al-Bidayah wa an-NihayahIbn Kathir

Al-Tirmidhi likewise transmitted the report (1) and remarked, “It is ḥasan ṣaḥīḥ, gharīb; we know it only through the narration of Abū Jaʿfar al-Khaṭmī.”

Al-Bayhaqī (2) also cited it—quoting al-Ḥākim’s isnād to Abū Jaʿfar al-Khaṭmī, from Abū Umāmah ibn Sahl ibn Ḥunayf, from his uncle ʿUthmān ibn Ḥunayf—and related something similar. ʿUthmān said, “By Allah, we had not yet dispersed, nor had our conversation grown long, before the man returned as though he had never suffered any harm at all.”

Another story:

Abū Bakr ibn Abī Shaybah said: “Muḥammad ibn Bishr narrated to us; ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn ʿUmar narrated to us; a man from Banī Salamān ibn Saʿd narrated to me, from his mother, from her maternal uncle—or, he said, it may have been his uncle or her own—Ḥabīb ibn Fuyk. He told her that his father went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while both of his eyes were milky-white and he could see nothing. The Prophet asked him, ‘What has happened to you?’ He replied, ‘I was tending a camel of mine when my foot trod on some snake eggs, and my sight was struck.’ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then blew into his eyes, and he regained his vision. I later saw him thread a needle, although he was eighty years old, and his eyes were still white (3).”

Al-Bayhaqī commented: “Others say his name was Ḥabīb ibn Mudrik (4).”

It is established in the Ṣaḥīḥ (5) that on the day of Khaybar the Messenger of Allah ﷺ blew into ʿAlī’s eyes when he was suffering from conjunctivitis; he was cured on the spot and never experienced it again.

The Prophet ﷺ wiped the leg of ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAtīk, whose leg had been broken on the night he killed Abū Rāfiʿ—the Khaybarī merchant of the Ḥijāz—and it was healed immediately as well (6).

Al-Bayhaqī also relates that the Prophet ﷺ wiped the hand of Muḥammad ibn Ḥāṭib, which had been burned by fire, and it was cured at once (7).

He wiped the leg of Salamah ibn al-Akwaʿ, which had been injured on the day of Khaybar, and it too was healed immediately (8). He further prayed for Saʿd ibn Abī Waqqāṣ to be cured of a certain illness, and he was healed (9).
