Al-Bukhārī also recorded it in al-Tārīkh, through Abū Ḥaywah Shurayḥ ibn Yazīd with the same chain,(2) and he mentioned it briefly.
Another transmitter added: ʿAbd Allāh had a wart on his face, whereupon the Prophet ﷺ said, “He will not die until the wart disappears from his face.” So he did not die until the wart had gone.(3) The isnād fulfils the conditions accepted by the compilers of the Sunan, yet they themselves did not include it.
Al-Bayhaqī likewise transmitted the report: from al-Ḥākim, from Muḥammad ibn al-Muʾammal ibn al-Ḥasan ibn ʿĪsā, from al-Faḍl ibn Muḥriz al-Shaʿrānī, who said: Ḥaywah ibn Shurayḥ told us, from Ibrāhīm ibn Muḥammad ibn Ziyād al-Alhānī, from his father, from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Buṣr, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, “This child will live a century,”(4) and he lived one hundred years.
Al-Wāqidī and others report that ʿAbd Allāh ibn Buṣr died in Ḥimṣ in 88 AH, at the age of ninety-four,(5) and he was the last Companion remaining in Syria.
