Al-Bukhārī likewise records (1), through Abū Nuʿaym, from Sufyān, from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Dīnār, from ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUmar, who said:
“We used to hold back from speaking freely and from being too open with our wives during the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, fearing that something might be revealed about us. When the Prophet ﷺ passed away, we spoke and felt at ease.”
Ibn Wahb said (2): ʿAmr ibn al-Ḥārith related to me, from Saʿīd ibn Abī Hilāl, from Abū Ḥāzim, from Sahl ibn Saʿd, who said:
“By Allah, a man among us would even refrain from a certain act with his own wife—while the two of them were under a single cloak—out of fear that a verse of the Qur’an might be sent down concerning him.”
Abū Dāwūd said (3): Muḥammad ibn al-ʿAlāʾ narrated to us; Ibn Idrīs narrated to us; ʿĀṣim ibn Kulayb narrated to us, from his father, from a man of the Anṣār, who said:
“We went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for a funeral. I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ standing by the grave instructing the digger:
‘Make it wider at the feet; make it wider at the head.’
When he returned, a woman sent for him. He came, food was brought, he put his hand in it, and the people put their hands in and ate. We watched the Messenger of Allah ﷺ chewing a morsel, then he said:
‘I detect the meat of a sheep that was taken without its owner’s permission.’
The woman sent word: ‘O Messenger of Allah, I sent someone to al-Baqīʿ to buy me a sheep but none was found. I then sent to a neighbor of mine who had bought a sheep, asking him to send it to me for its price, but he was not there. So I sent to his wife and she sent it to me.’
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, ‘Feed it to the prisoners.’
Section: The Order in Which He Informed of Future Unseen Matters after Him ﷺ
It is established in Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī and Muslim, from the ḥadīth of al-Aʿmash, from Abū Wāʾil, from Ḥudhayfah ibn al-Yamān, who said:
“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood among us and mentioned everything that would occur until the Hour; he left nothing out. Whoever retained it remembered it, and whoever forgot it forgot it. I would see something I had forgotten, then recognize it just as a man recognizes another man when he has been absent, then sees him and knows him.” (4)
Al-Bukhārī said (5): Yaḥyā ibn Mūsā narrated to us; al-Walīd narrated to us; Ibn Jābir narrated to me; Busr ibn
