He, exalted is He, also says:
“He is the One who sent His Messenger with guidance and the religion of truth so that He might cause it to prevail over every other religion, even though the idolaters may loathe it.” (9:33)
And that is exactly what occurred. This religion spread everywhere, vanquished and rose above all other creeds in both East and West, and its word was exalted in the time of the Companions and those who came after them. Every land bowed before them and all its inhabitants, of every category, submitted to their authority. Thus people became either believers who entered the faith, or treaty-bound subjects who paid obedience and tribute, or combatants who lived in dread of the power of Islam and its people.
An authentic ḥadith states:
“Indeed, Allah folded for me the earth, so I saw its eastern and western reaches, and the dominion of my community will extend to every part that was folded up for me.” (1)
He, glorified be He, also says:
“Say to those Bedouins who were left behind: You will soon be called against a people of great might; you will fight them, or they will submit.” (48:16)
Whether these were Hawāzin, the followers of Musaylimah, or the Byzantines, the promise was fulfilled.
He further says:
“Allah has promised you many spoils that you will capture; He has hastened this for you and restrained the hands of people from you, so that it may be a sign for the believers and that He may guide you to a straight path. And (He promises) another (conquest) which you have not yet attained; Allah has already encompassed it, and Allah is Powerful over all things.” (48:20–21)
Whether that ‘other’ referred to Khaybar or to Makkah, it was indeed taken exactly as foretold.
And He says:
“Allah has certainly fulfilled His Messenger’s vision in truth: You shall surely enter the Sacred Mosque, if Allah wills, secure—having shaved your heads or cut your hair short—without fear. He knew what you did not know and, before that, granted a near victory.” (48:27)
This promise was given in the year of al-Hudaybiyah, the sixth year (AH), and its fulfilment came in the seventh year, during the ʿUmrah of Compensation, as mentioned earlier. We cited the full ḥadith there, in which ʿUmar said, “O Messenger of Allah, did you not tell us that we would come to the House and circumambulate it?” He replied, “Indeed. But did I tell you that you would enter it this very year?” ʿUmar said, “No.” He said, “Then you will certainly come to it and circumambulate it.” (2)
He, exalted be He, also says:
“And when Allah promised you one of the two parties—that it would be yours—while you wished that the one without arms should be yours…” (8:7)
This promise concerned the Battle of Badr. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ had left Madinah to seize the Quraysh caravan. When Quraysh learned of his departure toward their caravan they marched out with nearly a thousand fighters. Once the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and his Companions were certain of their approach, Allah promised him one of the two parties—that He would grant them triumph over it (3): either the caravan or the armed host. Many of the Companions—those who
