It was likewise related by Shahr ibn Ḥawshab and Saʿīd ibn al-Musayyab from Abū Saʿīd, and in the same collection there is also a narration from Abū Hurayrah.
We have already quoted the wording preserved by al-Bukhārī (1) from Ibn Masʿūd—may Allah be pleased with him—who said, “We used to hear the food itself glorifying Allah while it was being eaten.”
Another report on this topic:
Al-Ḥāfiẓ al-Bayhaqī transmitted—through the chain of ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUthmān ibn Isḥāq ibn Saʿd ibn Abī Waqqāṣ—who said: Abū Umay* Mālik ibn Ḥamzah ibn Abī Usayd al-Sāʿidī told me, from his father, from his grandfather Abū Usayd al-Sāʿidī, who said:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to al-ʿAbbās ibn ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib:
“O Abū al-Faḍl, do not leave your house tomorrow—you and your sons—until I come to you, for I have a request concerning you.”
They waited for him until mid-morning, when he arrived. He entered and said, “Peace be upon you.”
They replied, “And upon you be peace, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.”
He then asked, “How have you begun the morning?”
They said, “We have begun the morning in good, praising Allah. And how have you begun, O Messenger of Allah—may our fathers and mothers be ransomed for you?”
He answered, “I have begun the morning in good, praising Allah.” He then said to them, “Draw closer, draw closer—move so that each of you presses toward the other.”
When they had done so, he wrapped them all in his cloak and supplicated:
“O Lord, this is my uncle, the equal of my father, and these are the members of my household. So shield them from the Fire as I have shielded them with this cloak of mine.”
The lintel of the door and the walls of the house then responded with “Āmīn, Āmīn, Āmīn.” (4)
Abū ʿAbdillāh Ibn Mājah also recorded it in his Sunan in abridged form (5) through Abū Isḥāq Ibrāhīm ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Abī Ḥātim al-Harawī, from ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUthmān ibn Isḥāq ibn Saʿd ibn Abī Waqqāṣ al-Waqqāṣī al-Zuhrī. (ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUthmān al-Waqqāṣī) (6) was narrated from by a number of scholars. Ibn Maʿīn said, “I do not know him,” whereas Abū Ḥātim remarked, “He does transmit ḥadīths.” (7)
Another narration:
Imām Aḥmad (8) said: “Yaḥyā ibn Abī Bukayr related to us, saying, ‘Ibrāhīm ibn Ṭahmān related to us; he informed me…’”
