Muḥammad ibn Sīrīn said:
Anas ibn Mālik related to me that Abū Ṭalḥah, on learning that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had no food, went out and hired himself for one sāʿ of barley. He worked the whole day, brought the barley home, and told Umm Sulaym to prepare a khaṭīfah (1) from it. He then narrated the rest of the report.

Imām Aḥmad said:
Yūnus ibn Muḥammad related to us; Ḥarb ibn Maymūn related to us, from al-Naḍr ibn Anas, from Anas ibn Mālik, who said:
Umm Sulaym said, “Go to the Prophet of Allah ﷺ and say: ‘If you would like to have lunch with us, then please do.’” So I went to him and conveyed the invitation.
He asked, “And those who are with me?”
I replied, “Yes.”
He said, “Rise.”
I returned and entered upon Umm Sulaym, amazed at the number of people who had come with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.
Umm Sulaym said, “What have you done, Anas?” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered right after that and said, “Do you have any ghee?”
She answered, “Yes, I still have a small skin vessel containing some ghee.”
He said, “Bring it.” She continued: I brought it; he untied its cord and said, “In the Name of Allah. O Allah, grant it abundant blessing.” Then he said, “Turn it over.” I turned it over and the Prophet ﷺ squeezed it while invoking Allah’s name. I then filled a cooking pot from it, and about eighty-odd men ate from it until they were satisfied, yet some of it remained. He handed the remainder to Umm Sulaym and said, “Eat from it and feed your neighbors.” (2)
Muslim likewise transmitted it in the Book of Foods (3) through Ḥajjāj ibn al-Shāʿir, from Yūnus ibn Muḥammad al-Muʾaddib, with this chain.

Abū al-Qāsim al-Baghawī said:
ʿAlī ibn al-Madīnī related to us; ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn Muḥammad al-Darāwardī related to us, from ʿAmr ibn Yaḥyā ibn ʿUmārah al-Māzinī, from his father, from Anas ibn Mālik: his mother, Umm Sulaym, prepared a khazīrah (4). Abū Ṭalḥah said, “My son, go and invite the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.” I went to him while he was among the people and said, “My father invites you.” He rose and said to the people, “Come along.” When I saw him stand with the people I hurried ahead of them and came to Abū Ṭalḥah, saying, “Father, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ is coming to you with the people.”
Abū Ṭalḥah stood at the door and said, “O Messenger of Allah, it is only a little.”
He replied, “Bring it, for Allah will place blessing in it!” He brought it, and the Messenger of Allah placed his hand on it and prayed to Allah as he willed. Then he said, “Admit them ten at a time,” and eighty of them came in, ate, and were satisfied.
