Muslim likewise relates this tradition (1) through the isnād of Abū al-Naḍr Hāshim ibn al-Qāsim.
Imām Aḥmad said: Ḥujayn ibn al-Mathannā narrated to us; ‘Abd al-‘Azīz—meaning Ibn Abī Salamah al-Mājishūn—narrated to us, from Isḥāq ibn ‘Abd Allāh ibn Abī Ṭalḥah, from Anas who said:
“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to enter the house of Umm Sulaym and lie down on her mattress when she was not on it. One day he came, lay on her bed, and she arrived while he was asleep. Someone told her, ‘The Messenger of Allah is sleeping in your house on your bed.’ When she entered, she saw that he had perspired and that his sweat had pooled on a piece of leather lying on the mattress. She opened her small perfume pouch, began blotting up the sweat and squeezing it into her flasks. The Prophet ﷺ awoke in alarm and said:
‘What are you doing, Umm Sulaym?’
She replied, ‘O Messenger of Allah, we seek its blessing for our children.’
He said, ‘You have done right.’ (2)
Muslim also records it (3) through Muḥammad ibn Rāfi‘, from Ḥujayn with the same chain.
Aḥmad further said (4): Hāshim ibn al-Qāsim narrated to us; Sulaymān narrated to us, from Thābit, from Anas who said:
“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came in to us and rested with us, and he perspired. My mother brought a vial and began to collect his sweat in it. The Messenger of Allah awoke and said:
‘O Umm Sulaym, what is this you are doing?’
She said, ‘It is your sweat; we mix it into our perfume, and it is the finest of scents.’
Muslim likewise relates it (5) through Zuhayr ibn Ḥarb, from Abū al-Naḍr Hāshim ibn al-Qāsim with this wording.
Aḥmad also said (6): Isḥāq ibn Manṣūr—meaning al-Sulūlī—narrated to us; ‘Imārah—meaning Ibn Zādhān—narrated to us, from Thābit, from Anas who said:
“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to take his midday nap in the house of Umm Sulaym, and he was among the people who sweated most. She placed a leather mat (7) for him on which he would lie down for the siesta, drew a line between his legs, and would blot up the sweat and collect it. He asked:
‘What is this, Umm Sulaym?’
She replied, ‘It is your sweat, O Messenger of Allah; I blend it into my perfume.’
So he prayed a beautiful supplication for her. Aḥmad alone reports this version from this route (8).
Aḥmad furthermore said (9): Muḥammad ibn ‘Abd Allāh narrated to us; Ḥumayd narrated to us, from Anas who said:
‘Whenever the Messenger of Allah ﷺ slept…’
