ʿAlī said: “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was not extremely tall, yet he stood above medium height. Whenever he sat with a group he seemed to tower over them, and the perspiration on his face shone like pearls.”(1) … to the end of the ḥadīth.
Al-Zubaydī narrated from al-Zuhrī, from Saʿīd, from Abū Hurayrah, who said: “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was of medium stature, inclining toward tallness. When he turned to face someone he turned with his whole body, and when he turned away he did so completely. I have never seen anyone like him before or after.”(2)
Al-Bukhārī records, through the chain of Ḥammād ibn Zayd, from Thābit, from Anas, who said: “I have never touched with my hand any brocade, silk, or anything softer than the palm of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, nor have I ever smelled a fragrance more pleasant than the scent of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.”(3)
Muslim also transmits this report(4) through Sulaymān ibn al-Mughīrah, from Thābit, from Anas.(5)
He further relates it through Ḥammād ibn Salamah and Sulaymān ibn al-Mughīrah,(6) from Thābit, from Anas, who said: “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ had a radiant complexion; his perspiration was [like] pearls. When he walked he leaned forward slightly. I have never touched silk or brocade softer than the palm of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, nor have I ever smelled musk or amber more fragrant than the scent of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.”
Aḥmad(7) said: Ibn Abī ʿAdī narrated to us; Ḥumayd narrated to us; from Anas, who said: “I have never touched khazz cloth or silk softer than the palm of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, nor have I ever smelled a fragrance more delightful than that of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.” This chain is three-tiered and meets the criteria of both Ṣaḥīḥs, yet none of the compilers of the six canonical books reported it through this particular route.
Yaʿqūb ibn Sufyān said: “ʿAmr ibn Ḥammād ibn Ṭalḥah al-Qannād informed us,” and al-Bayhaqī also recorded it through this chain.
