And that, indeed, is what most deserves that people’s very souls should melt in tears and their grief overflow.
A Prophet who dispelled every doubt from us by what was revealed to him and by the words he spoke;
he guided us, so we feared no misguidance while the Messenger was our sure guide.
O Fāṭimah, if you succumb to sorrow, you are excused; and if you do not, that is the right course.
For your father’s grave is the noblest of all graves, and within it lies the master of humankind—the Messenger.
Chapter: Clarification that the Prophet ﷺ left behind no dinar, no dirham, no male or female slave, no sheep or camel—in short, nothing that could be inherited from him. He left only a piece of land which he devoted in its entirety as charity for the sake of Allah. For the whole of this world was more despicable in his sight—as it is in Allah’s sight—than that he should pursue it himself or leave it as an estate after him. May Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him and upon all his brother-prophets and messengers, and may those blessings be abundant and unceasing until the Day of Judgment.
Al-Bukhārī said: Qutaybah narrated to us; Abū’l-Aḥwaṣ narrated to us, from Abū Isḥāq, from ʿAmr ibn al-Ḥārith, who said: “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ left neither dinar nor dirham, neither male slave nor female slave, except for his white mule on which he used to ride, his weapons, and a tract of land which he designated as charity for the traveller in need.”
Al-Bukhārī alone related this ḥadīth; Muslim did not. He recorded it in several places of his Ṣaḥīḥ through multiple chains from Abū’l-Aḥwaṣ, Sufyān al-Thawrī, and Zuhayr ibn Muʿāwiyah. Al-Tirmidhī transmitted it through the narration of Isrā’īl, and al-Nasā’ī through that of Yūnus ibn Abī Isḥāq—all of them reporting from Abū Isḥāq ʿAmr ibn ʿAbd Allāh al-Sabīʿī, from ʿAmr ibn al-Ḥārith ibn al-Muṣṭaliq ibn Abī Ḍirār, the brother of Juwayriyyah bint al-Ḥārith, Mother of the Believers—may Allah be pleased with her.
Imām Aḥmad said: Abū Muʿāwiyah narrated to us; al-Aʿmash narrated to us, and Ibn Numayr likewise, from al-Aʿmash, from Shaqīq, from Masrūq, from ʿĀʾishah, who said: “The Messenger of Allah left neither dinar nor dirham, neither sheep nor camel, and he made no bequest of anything.” Muslim related it in his Ṣaḥīḥ alone, apart from al-Bukhārī; it was also transmitted by Abū Dāwūd and al-Nasā’ī, and by Ibn
