The figure said:
"Peace be upon you, People of the House, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. With Allah there is solace for every disaster, recompense for every loss, and recovery for everything that perishes. Therefore, put your trust in Allah and place your hopes in Him, for the truly deprived is the one who is deprived of reward. Peace be upon you, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings."
Al-Bayhaqī then remarked: "Although both of these chains of transmission are weak, each lends support to the other and shows that the report does go back to the narration of Jaʿfar. Allah knows best."
Abū ʿAbd-Allāh al-Ḥāfiẓ informed us, saying: Abū Bakr Aḥmad ibn Balawayh told us; Muḥammad ibn Bishr ibn Maṭar told us; Kāmil ibn Ṭalḥah told us; ʿAbbād ibn ʿAbd al-Ṣamad, from Anas ibn Mālik, who said:
“When the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was taken, his Companions gathered around him, weeping. A man entered—grey-bearded, stout, and handsome—stepped over their shoulders, wept, and then turned to the Companions of the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ, and said:
‘With Allah there is consolation for every calamity, a substitute for every loss, and a successor for every deceased one. So turn in repentance to Allah and desire Him, and know that His gaze is upon you in tribulations, so look to Him. Truly afflicted is only the one whom consolation does not mend.’
Then he departed. Some of them asked one another, ‘Do you recognize the man?’ Abū Bakr and ʿAlī replied, ‘Yes—it is the brother of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, al-Khiḍr.’
Al-Bayhaqī added: ‘ʿAbbād ibn ʿAbd al-Ṣamad is weak, and this report is utterly objectionable.’
Al-Ḥārith ibn Abī Usāmah also transmitted—from Muḥammad ibn Saʿd, who said: Hāshim ibn al-Qāsim told us; Ṣāliḥ al-Murrī related to us, from Abū Ḥāzim al-Madanī—that:
“When Allah took the soul of His Messenger, ﷺ, the Muhājirūn entered in groups, offered the funeral prayer over him, and departed. Then the Anṣār did the same, followed by the people of Madinah. When the men had finished, the women entered; their voices rose in lamentation, as women are wont to do. Suddenly they heard a loud crash inside the house, so they were startled and fell silent. A voice then proclaimed:
‘With Allah there is solace for everyone who perishes, compensation for every calamity, and a successor for every loss. He who is healed is the one whom the reward heals, and truly bereaved is the one whom the reward does not heal.’ ”
