Ibn Mājah next said: “ʿAmr ibn Sawwād al-Miṣrī narrated to us; ʿAbd Allāh ibn Wahb narrated to us, from ʿAmr ibn al-Ḥārith, from Saʿīd ibn Abī Hilāl, from Zayd ibn Ayman, from ʿUbādah ibn Nusayy, from Abū al-Dardāʾ, who said:
The Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—said:
‘Increase your prayers for me on Friday, for it is a witnessed day, attended by the angels. No one sends blessings upon me without his blessing being presented to me until he finishes.’
I asked, ‘Even after death?’
He replied, ‘Allah has forbidden the earth to consume the bodies of the Prophets; the Prophet of Allah is alive and provided for.’ ”
This ḥadīth is singled out by Ibn Mājah alone.
Al-Ḥāfiẓ Ibn ʿAsākir devoted a chapter here to the aḥādīth reported on visiting his noble grave—may the prayers and peace of Allah be upon him always, until the Day of Resurrection. A full treatment of the subject will, if Allah wills, be given in the book al-Aḥkām al-Kabīr.
Mention of the reports on offering condolences for him, peace be upon him:
Ibn Mājah also said: “Al-Walīd ibn ʿAmr ibn al-Sukayn narrated to us; Abū Hammām—Muḥammad ibn al-Zibriqān al-Ahwāzī—narrated to us; Mūsā ibn ʿUbaydah narrated to us; Muṣʿab ibn Muḥammad narrated from Abū Salamah ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, from ʿĀʾishah, who said:
The Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—opened a door between himself and the people, or drew back a curtain, and saw the people praying behind Abū Bakr. He praised Allah for the good state he observed in them, hoping that Allah would preserve them upon what he saw, and then said:
‘O people! Whoever among mankind—or among the believers—is afflicted by a calamity, let him find solace for that calamity in the calamity of losing me, for no one of my community will ever be struck by a calamity after me that is harder for him than the calamity of my death.’ ”
This report too is unique to Ibn Mājah.
Al-Ḥāfiẓ al-Bayhaqī said: “Abū Isḥāq Ibrāhīm ibn Muḥammad al-Faqīh informed us; Shāfiʿ ibn Muḥammad narrated to us; Abū Jaʿfar ibn Salāmah al-Ṭaḥāwī narrated to us; al-Muzanī narrated to us; al-Shāfiʿī, from al-Qāsim ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUmar ibn Ḥafṣ, from …”
