Al-Nasā’ī also transmitted the report through the chain of ʿAbd Allāh ibn Numayr. He further said: “Hannād ibn al-Sarī narrated to us; from Abū al-Aḥwaṣ; from Ibn Gharqadah; from Sulaymān ibn ʿAmr; from his father, who said:
‘I witnessed the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during the Farewell Pilgrimage proclaiming—three times—“O people! O people! O people! What day is this?” They replied, “It is the Day of Sacrifice, the Day of the Greater Ḥajj.” He then declared: “Your blood, your property, and your honor are inviolable among you, just as sacred as this day of yours, in this land of yours. Behold! No offender shall bear the burden of (his child, nor shall any child bear the burden of) his father. Behold! Satan has despaired of ever being worshipped in this land of yours, yet he will be obeyed in some of the matters you deem trivial, and he will be satisfied with that. Behold! Every form of pre-Islamic usury is abolished; you may claim only your principal sums, so neither wrong nor be wronged…’ and he went on to mention the rest of the sermon.
Abū Dāwūd said, in the chapter entitled “One who delivers the sermon on the Day of Sacrifice”: “Hārūn ibn ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us; Hishām ibn ʿAbd al-Malik narrated to us; ʿIkrimah—meaning Ibn ʿAmmār—narrated to us; al-Hirmās ibn Ziyād al-Bāhilī narrated: ‘I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ addressing the people at Minā on the Day of ʿAḍḥā while mounted upon his camel al-ʿAḍbā’.’ ”
Aḥmad and al-Nasā’ī likewise recorded it through several routes from ʿIkrimah ibn ʿAmmār, from al-Hirmās, who said: “My father had me riding behind him, and I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ delivering the sermon to the people at Minā on the Day of Sacrifice while astride his camel al-ʿAḍbā’.” This is Aḥmad’s wording, and it is one of the three-link chains in his Musnad; all praise is due to Allah.
Abū Dāwūd then said: “Muʾammal ibn al-Faḍl al-Ḥarrānī narrated to us; al-Walīd narrated to us; Ibn Jābir narrated to us; Sulaym ibn ʿĀmir narrated: I heard Abū Umāmah say, ‘I heard the sermon of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at Minā on the Day of Sacrifice.’ ”
Imām Aḥmad also said: “ʿAbd al-Raḥmān narrated to us; from Muʿāwiyah ibn Ṣāliḥ; from Sulaym ibn ʿĀmir al-Kalāʿī, who said: I heard Abū Umāmah say, ‘I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ—he was then upon al-Jadʿā’, his legs hanging in the stirrup, stretching himself so the people could hear—raise his voice and say:
‘Do you hear?’
A man from among the various groups replied, ‘O Messenger of Allah, what do you enjoin upon us?’
He answered, ‘Worship your Lord, perform your five prayers, fast your month, and obey the one in authority over you—so shall you enter the Garden…’”
