Abū Dāwūd alone records this report, and there is something unusual in both its chain and its wording. Allah knows best.
Imām Aḥmad (1) said: “Aḥmad b. al-Ḥajjāj narrated to us; ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us; al-Ḥajjāj b. Arṭāt narrated to us, from al-Ḥakam, from Abū al-Qāsim—meaning Miqsam—from Ibn ʿAbbās, who said:
‘The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stoned the Jamrah of al-ʿAqabah, then sacrificed, then shaved.’
Ibn Ḥazm claimed that the Prophet sacrificed cattle on behalf of his wives, sent a sacrificial offering (2) for them in the form of a cow, and that on that same day (3) he himself sacrificed two speckled rams.
