This report was likewise transmitted by Imām Aḥmad, as well as by the four compilers of the Sunan, through various chains from al-Shaʿbī on the authority of ʿUrwah ibn Muḍarris. Al-Tirmidhī declared it “sound and reliable (ḥasan ṣaḥīḥ).”

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ had, during the night, sent a group of his family on ahead of him—before the masses moved off from Muzdalifah toward Mina.
Al-Bukhārī entitled a chapter: “One who sends the weak members of his household ahead at night so that they stand at Muzdalifah, supplicate, and then set off once the moon has set.”
Yahyā ibn Bukayr narrated to us; al-Layth narrated to us, from Yūnus, from Ibn Shihāb, who said: Sālim related:
“ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUmar used to send the weaker members of his household ahead. They would stand at the Sacred Monument during the night, remembering Allah as long as they wished; then they would depart before the imām had stood there and before he moved on. Some of them would reach Mina in time for the dawn prayer, others afterwards; and when they arrived they would stone the Jamrah. Ibn ʿUmar used to say, ‘The Messenger of Allah ﷺ granted them this concession.’”
Sulaymān ibn Ḥarb narrated to us; Ḥammād ibn Zayd narrated to us, from Ayyūb, from ʿIkrimah, from Ibn ʿAbbās, who said: “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent me from Jamʿ during the night.”
Al-Bukhārī also recorded: ʿAlī ibn ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us; Sufyān narrated to us, reporting from ʿUbayd Allāh ibn Abī Yazīd, who heard Ibn ʿAbbās say, “I was among those whom the Prophet ﷺ sent ahead on the night of Muzdalifah with the weak members of his family.”
Muslim likewise related—through Ibn Jurayj, from ʿAṭāʾ, from Ibn ʿAbbās—who said: “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent me from Jamʿ in the pre-dawn hours along with those who were burdened.”
Imām Aḥmad also reported: Rūḥ narrated to us; Sufyān al-Thawrī narrated to us, from Salamah ibn Kuhayl, from al-Ḥasan al-ʿUrani.
