Al-Ḥāfiẓ al-Bayhaqī said: “Abū al-Ḥasan ʿAlī ibn Aḥmad ibn ʿAbdān related to us; al-Ṭabarānī related to us; Abū al-Zinbaʿ narrated; Yaḥyā ibn Sulaymān al-Juʿfī transmitted; Yaḥyā ibn Yamān narrated; Sufyān narrated from Ibn Abī Ḥusayn, from ʿIkrimah, from Ibn ʿAbbās who said: ‘I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prostrate upon the Stone.’” Al-Ṭabarānī commented: “No one has narrated this from Sufyān except Yaḥyā ibn Yamān.”
Al-Bukhārī said: “Musaddad narrated to us; Ḥammād narrated to us; from al-Zubayr ibn ʿArabi, who said: A man asked Ibn ʿUmar about touching the Stone. He replied, ‘I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ touch it and kiss it.’ The man said, ‘What if I am crowded out? What if I am overpowered?’ Ibn ʿUmar answered, ‘Put your ‘What if?’ in Yemen; I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ touch it and kiss it.’” Al-Bukhārī recorded this ḥadīth alone, without Muslim.
He also said: “Musaddad narrated to us; Yaḥyā narrated to us; from ʿUbaydullāh, from Nāfiʿ, from Ibn ʿUmar, who said: ‘Since I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ touch these two corners, I have never neglected to touch them in hardship or in ease.’ I asked Nāfiʿ, ‘Did Ibn ʿUmar walk between the two corners?’ He replied, ‘He walked only to make touching them easier.’”
Abū Dāwūd and al-Nasāʾī likewise reported—through Yaḥyā ibn Saʿīd al-Qaṭṭān, from ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn Abī Rawwād, from Nāfiʿ, from Ibn ʿUmar—that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ “never left off touching the Yemeni Corner and the Stone in any circuit.”
Al-Bukhārī also said: “Abū al-Walīd narrated to us; Layth narrated to us; from Ibn Shihāb, from Sālim ibn ʿAbdullāh, from his father, who said: ‘I did not see the Prophet ﷺ touch anything of the House except the two Yemeni Corners.’” Muslim transmitted the same report through Yaḥyā ibn Yaḥyā and Qutaybah from al-Layth ibn Saʿd. In another narration from him Ibn ʿUmar said: “I believe the Prophet ﷺ refrained from touching the two Syrian Corners only because they were not erected upon the foundations of Abraham.”
