Yaḥyā ibn Abī Isḥāq al-Ḥaḍramī on Anas’s authority. Imām Aḥmad said: “Hushaym narrated to us; he informed us that Yaḥyā ibn Abī Isḥāq, ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn Ṣuhayb, and Ḥumayd al-Ṭawīl all transmitted from Anas that they heard him say, ‘I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ reciting the talbiyah for both Hajj and ʿUmrah together, saying: Labbayka ʿumratan wa ḥajjan, labbayka ʿumratan wa ḥajjan.’” It has already been mentioned that Muslim related the same report through Yaḥyā ibn Yaḥyā from Hushaym. Imām Aḥmad also said: “ʿAbd al-Aʿlā narrated to us, from Yaḥyā, from Anas, who said: ‘We went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to Mecca, and I heard him say: Labbayka ʿumratan wa ḥajjan.’”

Abū Asmāʾ al-Ṣayqal on his authority. Imām Aḥmad said: “Ḥasan narrated to us; Zuhayr narrated to us; and Aḥmad ibn ʿAbd al-Malik narrated to us; Zuhayr narrated to us from Abū Isḥāq, from Abū Asmāʾ al-Ṣayqal, from Anas ibn Mālik, who said: ‘We set out loudly proclaiming Hajj, but when we reached Mecca the Messenger of Allah ﷺ instructed us to turn it into an ʿUmrah. He added: “Had I known beforehand what I know now, I would have made it an ʿUmrah; however, I have brought the sacrificial animals with me and have combined Hajj with ʿUmrah.”’ Al-Nasāʾī likewise narrated it from Hannād, from Abū al-Ahwaṣ, from Abū Isḥāq, from Abū Asmāʾ al-Ṣayqal, from Anas ibn Mālik, who said: ‘I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ proclaiming both rites together.’

Abū Qudāmah al-Ḥanafī—some say his name was Muḥammad ibn ʿUbayd—on Anas’s authority. Imām Aḥmad said: “Rawḥ ibn ʿUbādah narrated to us; Shuʿbah narrated to us, from Yūnus ibn ʿUbayd, from Abū Qudāmah al-Ḥanafī, who said: ‘I asked Anas ibn Mālik, “With what words did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ make the talbiyah?” He replied: “I heard him seven times proclaiming the talbiyah for an ʿUmrah and a Hajj.”’” Imām Aḥmad alone recorded this report, and its chain is sound and strong—praise and gratitude belong to Allah, and with Him is success and protection. Ibn Ḥibbān also related in his Ṣaḥīḥ from Anas ibn Mālik: “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ combined Hajj with ʿUmrah, and the people combined theirs with his.”
