Al-Bukhārī (1) relates: ʽAbd Allāh ibn Yūsuf narrated to us; Mālik informed us, from ʽAbd al-Raḥmān ibn al-Qāsim, from his father, from ʽĀʾishah—may Allah be pleased with her—who said: “I used to perfume the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for his entry into iḥrām when he assumed it, and for his exit from iḥrām before he circumambulated the House.”
Muslim (2) reports: ʽAbd ibn Ḥumayd narrated to us; Muḥammad ibn Abī Bakr narrated to us; Ibn Jurayj narrated to us; ʽUmar ibn ʽAbd Allāh ibn ʽUrwah informed me that he heard ʽUrwah and al-Qāsim relate from ʽĀʾishah that she said: “With my own hands I perfumed the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with dharīrah (3) during the Farewell Pilgrimage—both for his consecration and for his release.”
Muslim (4) likewise transmits through Sufyān ibn ʽUyaynah, from al-Zuhrī, from ʽUrwah, from ʽĀʾishah—may Allah be pleased with her—who said: “With these two hands of mine I perfumed the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for his state of consecration when he entered iḥrām, and for his release before he performed ṭawāf of the House.”
