He performed four ‘umrahs, all of them in Dhū al-Qaʿdah except the one that accompanied his ḥajj … the ḥadīth.
Yūnus ibn Bukayr also transmitted it, from ʿUmar ibn Dharr, from Mujāhid, from Abū Hurayrah, in the same terms.
Saʿīd ibn Manṣūr(1) related—through al-Dārāwardī, from Hishām ibn ʿUrwah, from his father—that ʿĀʾishah said: “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed three minor pilgrimages: one in Shawwāl and two in Dhū al-Qaʿdah.”
Ibn Bukayr reported the same from Mālik(2), from Hishām ibn ʿUrwah.
Imām Aḥmad(3) also narrated, through the chain of ʿAmr ibn Shuʿayb, from his father, from his grandfather, that the Messenger of Allah performed three ‘umrahs, all of them in Dhū al-Qaʿdah.
Imām Aḥmad(4) further said: “Abū al-Naḍr narrated to us; Dāwūd—meaning al-ʿAṭṭār—told us, from ʿAmr, from ʿIkrimah, from Ibn ʿAbbās, who said: ‘The Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed four ‘umrahs: the ʿumrah of al-Ḥudaybiyah, ʿumrat al-qaḍāʾ, the third at al-Jiʿirānah(5), and the fourth along with his ḥajj.’”
This was also transmitted by Abū Dāwūd, al-Tirmidhī, and al-Nasāʾī through the report of Dāwud al-ʿAṭṭār, and al-Tirmidhī(6) graded it sound.
We have already discussed this material under the ʿumrah of al-Jiʿirānah, and it will appear again in the chapter on those who say that he ﷺ performed ḥajj as a qārin. Allah’s help is sought.
The first of these ‘umrahs is the ʿumrah of al-Ḥudaybiyah(7), from which he was turned back; after it came ʿumrat al-qaḍāʾ, also called the ʿumrah—

(5) Al-Ja‘ranah: by consensus it takes a kasra on its first letter, though hadith transmitters sometimes vocalize the ‘ayn with a kasra and add a shadda to the rāʾ, while grammarians may mistakenly assign a sukun to the ‘ayn and lighten the rāʾ. Al-Shāfi‘ī reportedly remarked that hadith scholars err by stressing Ja‘ranah and weakening al-Hudaybiyyah. Ja‘ranah is a spring between Ta’if and Mecca (closer to Mecca), where the Prophet ﷺ stopped after Hunayn to distribute the spoils and entered ihrām (al-Mu‘jam al-Buldān). Al-Hudaybiyyah is a medium village named for the well by the Tree Mosque—site of the Prophet’s pledge; it lies nine stages from Medina, partly within the ḥaram and partly in the ḥul (al-Mu‘jam al-Buldān).
