Al-Bidayah wa an-NihayahIbn Kathir

upon a she-camel whose dam no stallion had ever mounted, its hair at the tips trimmed with sickles.

He said:
Al-Zuhrī relates that when they brought him forward to kill him he recited:
[ kāmil metre ]
“Convey to the nobles of the Muslims that I
have surrendered to my Lord—my very bones and my stance.”(1)

He continued:
They then struck off his head and crucified him at that spring. May Allah be pleased with him, satisfy him, and make Paradise his abode.(2)

The Arrival of Tamīm al-Dārī before the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during one of the Prophet’s ﷺ expeditions, and the belief of those who accepted his message

[Al-Bayhaqī said]: Abū ʿAbd Allāh Sahl ibn Muḥammad ibn Naṣrawayh al-Marwazī in Nīshāpūr informed us; he said: Abū Bakr Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad ibn Ḥabīb narrated to us; he said: Yaḥyā ibn Abī Ṭālib narrated to us. (Al-Bayhaqī also stated:) Abū ʿAbd Allāh al-Ḥāfiẓ and Abū Bakr Aḥmad ibn al-Ḥasan al-Qāḍī likewise told us; both said: Abū Sahl Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad ibn Ziyād al-Qaṭṭān narrated to us; he said: Yaḥyā ibn Jaʿfar ibn al-Zubayr narrated to us; he said: Wahb ibn Jarīr narrated to us; he said: my father related to me; he said: I heard Ghaylān ibn Jarīr report from al-Shaʿbī, from Fāṭimah bint Qays, who said:

Tamīm al-Dārī came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and told him that he had put out to sea, but his ship lost its course until they drifted to an island. They disembarked in search of water and there met a creature dragging its hair.

It said to them, “Who are you?” They answered, “We are Arabs.”

It replied, “I am al-Jassāsah.” They said, “Tell us something.” It said, “I will not inform you; instead, go into that monastery.”

We entered, and behold, a man was fettered there.

He asked, “Who are you?”

We said, “We are people from Arabia.”

He said, “What has become of that Prophet who has appeared among you?”

We replied, “People have believed in him, followed him, and affirmed him.”

He said, “That is best for them. Now tell me about the spring of Zughar—what is its condition?” When we informed him, he leapt so high it seemed he would clear the wall.

Then he said, “What about the palms of Baysān—have they borne fruit yet?” We told him they had, and he leapt in the same way.

He then said, “If I were given permission to go forth, I would traverse every land except Ṭayyibah.”

Fāṭimah continued: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then presented Tamīm’s story to the people and said,

“This is Ṭayyibah, and that is the Antichrist (al-Dajjāl).”

This ḥadīth has also been recorded by Imām Aḥmad, Muslim, and the compilers of the Sunan through various chains from ʿĀmir ibn Sharāḥīl al-Shaʿbī.
