Al-Ḥasan said:
“Adam was sent down in India, Eve in Jeddah, Iblīs at Dast Maysān a few miles from Basra, and the serpent in Isfahān.”(1) Ibn Abī Ḥātim also reported this.
Al-Suddi said:
“Adam came down in India, and with him came the Black Stone and a handful of leaves from Paradise. He scattered the leaves in India, and from them the trees of fragrance sprang up there.”(2)
On the authority of Ibn ʿUmar it is related:
“Adam was made to descend upon al-Ṣafā and Eve upon al-Marwah.” Ibn Abī Ḥātim likewise recorded this.
ʿAbd al-Razzāq related: Maʿmar told me, from ʿAwf, from Qasāmah ibn Zuhayr, from Abū Mūsā al-Ashʿarī, who said:
“When Allah caused Adam to descend from Paradise to the earth, He taught him every craft and supplied him with fruit from Paradise. The fruits you have are from those very fruits; the difference is that these spoil, whereas the fruits of Paradise never spoil.”(3)
Al-Ḥākim said in his al-Mustadrak(4): Abū Bakr ibn Bāluwayh narrated to us—Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad ibn al-Naḍr—Muʿāwiyah ibn ʿAmr—Zāʾidah—ʿAmmār ibn Abī Muʿāwiyah al-Bajalī—from Saʿīd ibn Jubayr—from Ibn ʿAbbās, who said:
“Adam’s stay in Paradise lasted only from the Afternoon Prayer until sunset.”
Al-Ḥākim commented: “Authentic according to the criteria of the Two Shaykhs, though they did not include it.”
In Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim(5), via al-Zuhrī, from al-Aʿraj, from Abū Hurayrah, it is reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“The best day on which the sun has risen is Friday: on it Adam was created, on it he was admitted to Paradise, and on it he was expelled from it.”
In another sound narration he ﷺ added: “and on it the Hour will be established.”(6)
Aḥmad(7) recorded—with a chain that meets Muslim’s criteria—on the authority of Abū Hurayrah that the Prophet ﷺ said:
“The best day on which the sun has risen is Friday: on it Adam was created, on it he was admitted to Paradise, on it he was expelled from it, and on it the Hour will be established.”
As for the report transmitted by Ibn ʿAsākir—through Abū al-Qāsim al-Baghawī, Muḥammad ibn Jaʿfar al-Warkānī, Saʿīd ibn Maysarah, from Anas—he said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“Adam and Eve descended together naked, clothed only in the leaves of Paradise. The heat assailed him, so he sat weeping and said to her, ‘O Eve, the heat is hurting me.’ He said: …”
