Section: The Companions who were martyred at Khaybar, as cited by Ibn Isḥāq ibn Yasār and other authors of the Maghāzī.
Among the foremost of the Emigrants were:

• Thaqīf ibn ʿAmr;
• Rifāʿah ibn Masrūḥ—both allies of Banū Umayyah;

And among the Helpers were:
• Bishr ibn al-Barāʾ ibn Maʿrūr—the one who ate the poisoned lamb with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, as mentioned earlier;
• Fuḍayl ibn al-Nuʿmān al-Salamiyān;
• Masʿūd ibn Saʿd ibn Qays ibn Khaladah ibn ʿĀmir ibn Zurayq al-Zurqī;
• Maḥmūd ibn Maslamah al-Ashhalī;
• Abū Ḍayyāḥ ibn Thābit ibn al-Nuʿmān al-ʿAmrī;
• al-Ḥārith ibn Ḥāṭib;
• ʿUrwah ibn Murrah ibn Surāqah;
• Aws al-Fāʾid;
• Unayf ibn Ḥabīb;
• Thābit ibn Athlah;
• Ṭalḥah;
• ʿUmārah ibn ʿUqbah, who was struck by an arrow and killed;
• ʿĀmir ibn al-Akwaʿ, who died when the tip of his own sword cut his knee, as related above;
• and al-Aswad the shepherd. Ibn Isḥāq singles out his story here, and we have already presented it at the beginning of the account of this expedition—praise and thanks belong to Allah.
Ibn Isḥāq further said: Among those martyred at Khaybar—according to what Ibn Shihāb al-Zuhrī reported—were, from Banū Zuhrah, Masʿūd ibn Rabīʿah, an ally of theirs from the tribe of al-Qārah, and from the Helpers, specifically Banū ʿAmr ibn ʿAwf, Aws ibn Qatādah—may Allah be pleased with them all.
