Likewise, Imām Aḥmad and Abū Dāwūd (1) transmitted it through the isnād of Muḥammad b. Isḥāq.
Our teacher Abū al-Ḥajjāj al-Mizzī said in his Aṭrāf (2): Al-Wāqidī also related it, from Abū Bakr b. Abī Sabrah, from Sulaymān b. Saḥīm, from Umm ʿAlī bint Abī al-Ḥakam, from Umayyah bint Abī al-Ṣalt, from the Prophet ﷺ with the same purport.
Imām Aḥmad further said (3): Ḥasan b. Mūsā related to us; Rāfiʿ b. Salamah al-Ashjaʿī related to us; Ḥashraj b. Ziyād narrated to me, from his grandmother—his father’s mother—who said:
“We set out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the campaign of Khaybar; I was the sixth of six women. News reached the Prophet ﷺ that women were with him. He therefore sent for us, and when we came we could see anger in his face. He said, ‘What made you come out, and by whose permission did you leave?’ We answered, ‘We came to pass arrows to the fighters, give them sawīq to drink, carry medicine for the wounded, and spin wool so that we may assist in the cause of Allah.’ He said, ‘Stand up and go back.’
“When Allah granted the conquest of Khaybar he nevertheless allotted to us a portion equal to the men’s portions.”
I asked her, “Grandmother, what exactly did he give you?” She replied, “Dates.”
I commented, “He only gave them from the produce; as for assigning them land shares equal to those of the men, that did not occur. Allah knows best.”
Al-Ḥāfiẓ al-Bayhaqī said (4): In my copy, related by Abū ʿAbd Allāh al-Ḥāfiẓ, ʿAbd Allāh al-Aṣbahānī informed him, saying: Ḥusayn b. al-Jahm narrated to us; Ḥusayn b. al-Faraj narrated to us; al-Wāqidī narrated to us; he said: ʿAbd al-Salām b. Mūsā b. Jubayr told me, from his father, from his grandfather, from ʿAbd Allāh b. Unays, who said:
“I went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to Khaybar while my wife was pregnant. She gave birth on the way, and I informed the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He said, ‘Soak some dates for her; when they are thoroughly softened, mash them so that she may drink.’ I did so, and she suffered no discomfort. When Khaybar was conquered he granted gratuities to the women, without allotting them official shares; he gave a gratuity to my wife and to the child that had been born.” ʿAbd al-Salām added: “I do not know whether the child was a boy or a girl.”
Account of the arrival of Jaʿfar b. Abī Ṭālib—may Allah be pleased with him—and those who had remained in Abyssinia from the emigrant Muslims, together with those from Yemen who joined them, upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was encamped at Khaybar (6).
Al-Bukhārī said (7): Muḥammad b. al-ʿAlāʾ narrated to us; Abū Usāmah narrated to us; Burayd b. ʿAbd Allāh b. Abī Burda narrated to us, from Abū
