Muslim likewise transmits it (1) through the chain of Ḥajjāj ibn al-Shāʿir, from ʿAbd al-Ṣamad, from Ḥammād ibn Salamah.
Al-Bukhārī says (2): ʿAbd Allāh ibn Muḥammad narrated to us; Sufyān narrated to us, from ʿAmr, who heard Jābir ibn ʿAbd Allāh relate: A man asked the Prophet ﷺ on the Day of Uḥud, “Messenger of Allah, if I am killed, where will I be?” (3) He replied, “In Paradise.” The man thereupon threw away the dates that were in his hand and fought until he was killed.
Muslim and al-Nasāʾī also record it (4) through Sufyān ibn ʿUyaynah. The report resembles the story of ʿUmayr ibn al-Ḥumām mentioned earlier in the account of Badr—may Allah be pleased with them both.

Al-Bukhārī states (5), regarding the wounds inflicted upon the Prophet ﷺ on the Day of Uḥud: Ishāq ibn Naṣr narrated to us; ʿAbd al-Razzāq narrated to us, from Maʿmar, from Hammām ibn Munabbih, who heard Abū Hurayrah—may Allah be pleased with him—say: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “The wrath of Allah has grown severe against a people who did this to His Prophet”—pointing to his incisor—“and the wrath of Allah has grown severe against a man whom the Messenger of Allah kills in the path of Allah.” Muslim also reports it (6) through the route of ʿAbd al-Razzāq.
Mukhallad ibn Mālik narrated to us (7); Yaḥyā ibn Saʿīd al-Umawī narrated to us; Ibn Jurayj narrated to us, from ʿAmr ibn Dīnār, from ʿIkrimah, from Ibn ʿAbbās, who said: “The wrath of Allah has grown severe against the one whom the Prophet ﷺ kills in the path of Allah, and the wrath of Allah has grown severe against a people who bloodied the face of the Prophet of Allah.”
Aḥmad says (8): ʿAffān narrated to us; Ḥammād narrated to us; Thābit narrated to us, from Anas, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said on the Day of Uḥud, while wiping the blood from his face, “How can a people ever prosper who wounded their Prophet and broke his incisor while he is calling them to Allah?!”
