Chapter: On the creation of the angels and their attributes
Allah, Exalted is He, says:
“They claim, ‘The Most Compassionate has taken a child.’ Far exalted is He! Rather, they are servants who have been honored: they never speak ahead of Him, and they act only at His command. He knows what lies before them and what is behind them; they do not intercede except for those with whom He is pleased, and they stand in awe of Him. Whoever among them were to say, ‘I am a deity apart from Him,’ We would repay with Hell; thus do We recompense the wrongdoers.” (al-Anbiyāʾ 21:26–29)
He, Most High, also says:
“The heavens almost burst apart above them, while the angels proclaim their Lord’s praise and seek forgiveness for those on earth. Surely Allah is the All-Forgiving, the Ever-Merciful.” (al-Shūrā 42:5)
And He says:
“Those who bear the Throne, and those around it, exalt their Lord with His praise, believe in Him, and seek forgiveness for those who believe: ‘Our Lord, You encompass all things in mercy and knowledge, so forgive those who repent and follow Your way, and protect them from the punishment of the Blaze. Our Lord, admit them into Gardens of Eternity that You have promised them, along with whoever is righteous among their fathers, their spouses, and their descendants. Truly, You are the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.’” (Ghāfir 40:7-8)
He says:
“But if they grow arrogant, those who are with your Lord glorify Him night and day, and they never weary.” (Fuṣṣilat 41:38)
And He says:
“Indeed, those who are with your Lord are not too proud to worship Him; they glorify Him and fall down in prostration to Him.” (al-Aʿrāf 7:206)
And He says:
“To Him belongs all who are in the heavens and the earth. Those who are with Him are not too proud to worship Him, nor do they tire; they glorify Him night and day without faltering.” (al-Anbiyāʾ 21:19–20)
And He says:
“There is none among us but has a known station; indeed, we are those who stand in ranks, and we are those who glorify.” (al-Ṣāffāt 37:164–166)
He, Blessed and Exalted, says:
“We do not descend except by the command of your Lord. To Him belongs all that is before us, all that is behind us, and all that lies between, and your Lord is never forgetful.” (Maryam 19:64)
And He says:
“Surely over you are guardians—noble recorders—who know whatever you do.” (al-Infiṭār 82:10–12)
And He says:
“No one knows the armies of your Lord except Him.” (al-Muddaththir 74:31)
And He says:
“The angels will enter upon them from every gate, saying, ‘Peace be upon you for what you patiently endured. How excellent is the final abode!’” (al-Raʿd 13:23–24)
And He says:
“All praise is due to Allah, Originator of the heavens and the earth, who made the angels messengers having wings—two, three, or four. He increases in creation whatever He wills; surely Allah is Powerful over all things.” (Fāṭir 35:1)
And He says:
“On the Day when the sky is split apart with clouds and the angels are sent down in a majestic descent, true sovereignty that Day belongs to the Most Compassionate, and it will be a hard day for the disbelievers.” (al-Furqān 25:25–26)
And He says:
“Those who do not hope to meet Us say, ‘Why have angels not been sent down to us, or why do we not see our Lord?’ They have indeed been arrogant within themselves and have become excessively insolent. On the Day they behold the angels, there will be no good news for the criminals that day, and they will cry, ‘A barrier totally forbidden.’” (al-Furqān 25:21–22)
