my right, or I shall seize my sword, stand in the Mosque of the Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—and invoke the Pact of al-Fuḍūl.”
ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Zubayr was sitting with al-Walīd when al-Ḥusayn spoke those words. He said, “By Allah, if he calls for it, I will take up my sword and stand beside him until he receives his due, or we shall die together.”
The words reached al-Miswar ibn Makhramah ibn Nawfal al-Zuhri, and he said the same; they also reached ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿUthmān ibn ʿUbayd Allāh al-Taymī, and he likewise repeated them. When al-Walīd ibn ʿUtbah heard of this, he restored al-Ḥusayn’s right until he was satisfied.

On the Prophet’s marriage—peace and blessings be upon him—to Khadījah bint Khuwaylid ibn Asad ibn ʿAbd al-ʿUzzā ibn Quṣayy
Ibn Isḥāq reports: Khadījah bint Khuwaylid was a woman of commerce, nobility, and wealth who would hire men to trade with her capital on a profit-sharing basis. When she heard what had reached her about the Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—his truthfulness, exceptional trustworthiness, and noble manners, she sent to him proposing that he take her goods to Syria as a merchant, promising him better terms than she granted any other trader. She also dispatched with him a servant of hers named Maysarah.
The Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—accepted, set out with her goods, and Maysarah accompanied him until they reached Syria. There the Messenger of Allah rested beneath the shade of a tree close to the cell of a monk. The monk looked out at Maysarah and asked, “Who is that man who has taken shelter beneath the tree?” Maysarah replied, “He is a man of Quraysh, one of the people of the Sacred Precinct.” The monk said, “No one has ever sat beneath this tree except a prophet.”
The Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—then sold the merchandise he had brought and purchased whatever he wished. He returned to Mecca with Maysarah. It is said that whenever the midday heat became intense, Maysarah would see two angels shading him from the sun as he rode his camel.
When they arrived, Khadījah sold what he had brought back and found the profits had doubled, or nearly so. Maysarah told her what the monk had said and what he had seen of the angels’ shade. Khadījah was an intelligent, noble, and discerning woman, in addition to the honor Allah had decreed for her. After Maysarah related these matters, she sent for the Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—and, it is said, addressed him: “Cousin, I have desired you because of our kinship, your standing among your people, your trustworthiness, the excellence of your character, and the truthfulness…"
