Seventh virtue: it is a safeguard against the devils—both jinn and human—and its recitation is equal to one-third of the Qur’an.
Abu Shaykh narrated, with his own chain, from Anas that the Prophet ﷺ said: “When a servant lies down upon his bed, says, ‘In the name of Allah,’ and recites the Opening of the Book (Surah al-Fatiha), he is protected from the evil of the jinn and of humankind, and from every harm; moreover, it equals one-third of the Qur’an.”
Al-Tabarani recorded in his Muʿjam al-Awsat, through his chain from Ibn ʿAbbas, attributing it to the Prophet ﷺ: “Whoever recites the Mother of the Qur’an (Surah al-Fatiha) together with ‘Say: He is Allah, the One’ (Surah al-Ikhlas), it is as though he has recited one-third of the Qur’an.” (1)
