emits from his eye a poisonous force that reaches the person upon whom he casts it, killing him—or he may thereby kill himself. He added that it is not inconceivable that visible particles emanate from the eye, reach the afflicted person, and penetrate the pores of his body, whereupon Allah creates death, just as He creates it when poison is drunk. In truth, this is Allah’s act. Al-Māzirī said: “This is not asserted with certainty; rather, it is merely possible. The reality of the evil eye is established by experience and plainly perceptible; none but an obstinate person denies it.”” (1)
