In conclusion, I draw attention to the importance of remaining steadfast upon the Sunnah and urging one another to adhere to it. The best guidance is the guidance of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). We have explained his guidance (peace and blessings be upon him) for treating the evil eye in several ways. No Muslim ought to depart from any of this, especially since he has been spared the trouble.
Hudhayfah ibn al-Yamān (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “O assembly of Quran reciters, remain upright, for you have indeed gone far ahead. But if you turn to the right or the left, you will indeed go far astray.” (1)
ʿAbdullāh ibn Masʿūd (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “If you were to abandon the Sunnah of your Prophet, you would go astray.” Narrated by Muslim.
He also said (may Allah be pleased with him): “Follow in our footsteps and do not introduce innovations; you have already been given all that you need.” (2)
It is narrated from ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn Rufayʿ that ʿAtā’ was asked about something and replied, “I do not know.” He was asked, “Why do you not give your own opinion on it?” He replied, “I am ashamed before Allah, Mighty and Majestic, that my personal opinion should be treated as religion on earth.” (3)
