22 – Hammad transmitted from Salim ibn ʿAbd Allah ibn ʿUmar that his father and Saʿd ibn Abi Waqqas once argued about wiping over leather socks. Saʿd said, “Go ahead and wipe,” while ʿAbd Allah replied, “It does not appeal to me.” Saʿd remarked, “Then let us take the matter to ʿUmar.” When they gathered before ʿUmar — may Allah be pleased with him — he said, “Your uncle is more knowledgeable than you regarding the Sunnah.”
