1 – Al-Haytham narrated from al-Hasan, from Abū Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) declared, “O Abū Dharr, leadership is a trust, and on the Day of Resurrection it will turn into disgrace and regret—except for the one who receives it lawfully and then fulfills the duties it entails; yet how rarely that happens!”

In another report: from Abū Ghassān, from al-Hasan, from Abū Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him), from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): “Leadership is a trust; on the Day of Resurrection it will be disgrace and regret—except for the one who receives it lawfully and fulfills the duties it entails—yet how rarely that happens, O Abū Dharr!”
