31 – He said: I was born in the year 80. ʿAbd Allah ibn Unays, a Companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, came to Kufa in the year 94. I saw him and heard from him when I was fourteen years old. I heard him say: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ declare, “Your love for something blinds and deafens.”
٣١ - قَالَ: وُلِدْتُ سَنَةَ ثَمَانِينَ، وَقَدِمَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أُنَيْسٍ صَاحِبُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ الْكُوفَةَ سَنَةَ أَرْبَعٍ وَتِسْعِينَ، وَرَأَيْتُهُ، وَسَمِعْتُ مِنْهُ، وَأَنَا ابْنُ أَرْبَعَ عَشْرَةَ سَنَةً، سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ، يَقُولُ: «حُبُّكَ الشَّيْءَ يُعْمِي وَيُصِمُّ»
