12 – Nafiʿ relates from Ibn ʿUmar (may Allah be pleased with them) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “When a Muslim brother presents you with an apology and you do not accept his excuse, your burden of sin equals that of a collector of illicit taxes—meaning an ʿashshār, one who exacts unlawful customs duties.”
