12 – Jābir ibn ʿAbd Allāh (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: A man from the Anṣār came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, “O Messenger of Allah, I have never been granted a child—no offspring has ever been born to me.” He replied, “Why do you not engage in frequent istighfār (seeking forgiveness) and give abundant ṣadaqah (charity)? Through them you will be provided for.” The man then increased both his charity and his seeking of forgiveness, and, Jābir reports, nine sons were born to him.
