Musnad Abi Hanifah Riwayat al-HaskafiAbu Hanifa

31 – Ḥammād narrated, on the authority of Ibrāhīm, from ʿAlqamah, who said: “I saw ʿAbd Allah ibn Masʿūd eating a meal. He then called for some nabīdh (a date- or raisin-infusion) and drank it. I exclaimed, ‘May Allah have mercy on you! You drink nabīdh, while the ummah looks to you for guidance?’ Ibn Masʿūd replied, ‘I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ drink nabīdh, and had I not seen him do so, I would never have touched it.’”
