27 – Al-Ḥakam narrated, on the authority of Ibn Abī Laylā, who said: “We were with Hudhayfah in al-Madāʾin when he asked a dehqān (local landowner) for water. The man brought it in a silver bowl, whereupon Hudhayfah tossed it aside and said, ‘The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade the use of gold and silver vessels, saying: They are for them in this world, and for you in the Hereafter.’”
