20 – Muharib ibn Dithar narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him): “I once visited him and he set before me some bread and vinegar. He then said, ‘The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade us from burdening ourselves with unnecessary affectation; had it not been for that, I would have gone to greater lengths for you. Indeed, I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: “Vinegar is an excellent condiment.”’”
