10 – Reported by Saʿīd, from ʿAbāyah ibn Rifāʿah, from Rāfiʿ ibn Khadīj: “A camel belonging to the zakat herd broke loose. They went after it, but when they were unable to capture it, a man shot it with an arrow and struck a fatal spot. They asked the Prophet ﷺ about it, and he ordered that it be eaten, saying, ‘Such camels can sometimes turn wild like game animals; so if you fear that from one of them, treat it as you treated this camel, and then eat it.’
In another wording: “A camel from the zakat herd bolted, so a man shot it with an arrow and killed it. The Prophet ﷺ was asked whether it could be eaten, and he said, ‘Eat it, for they sometimes behave like wild beasts.’”
